Often times, we mess up with basic rules of tenses and punctuation and this practice has increased a lot in the recent day. The main reason behind this is the negligence and overlooking of grammar, which thus resulting in poor grammar knowledge. English has been stated as the most used language in world, and the basics of any language can traced in the grammar. Thus, by neglecting grammar, we actually are taking English towards a drastic end. Being an English speaking nation with English as native language, world doesn’t expect this from us.
A bad knowledge of grammar is akin to a tree with loose roots, roots are getting loosen up day by day and we are not emphasizing on it. Children from the lower grades must be taught correct grammar, so that they don’t mess up with the language. I think we are taking this very lightly and considering that English is our native language and we need not to study its grammar, but that’s not true, I guess. Speaking English and speaking correct English are two different things for sure, and we actually taking them as one. From the upper intermediate to the higher grades, some good grammar books should be used, so that the total English upper intermediate provide some basics of the grammar.
Grammar, on the other hand is sometimes considered something tedious and hard job to work with. But with proper guidance and good books, it will be a very interesting and easy task. By providing a good and solid base, we will prepare a strong generation which will bring the legacy of our ancestors to next level, and thus will sustain our tag of being originators of English.
